Permaculture Design and the Ecological Mind:
|
Permaculture teaches us to work with natural patterns and systems to create resilient and regenerative lives, landscapes and communities while providing our food, shelter, energy and the necessary resources to be happy, healthy and whole. Students will learn the skills to plan, design and create ecosystems from permaculture design ethics and principles within their home, landscapes, work and personal lives that are abundant, diverse, and thriving. Students will have the opportunity to practice what they learn by using the land at the New Hampshire North Country Boys and Girls Club as a demonstration of what is possible when integrating best ecological practices with children’s imaginations, passions and needs. You will leave this course feeling restored and renewed with a sense of belonging and purpose to contribute to the healing of the planet, our communities, and even yourself. |
This course will include:
- An Introduction to Permaculture Ethics, Principles and Guiding Philosophies
- Skills in the art of Permaculture Design with seasoned artists and designers
- Field Trips to permaculture homes and farms
- Exploration of plant guilds, pollinators, and biodiversity within a permaculture landscape
- Patterns and Sacred Spaces in Nature
- Integrating and valuing our animal friends into our design
- Traditional and Natural Building Practices
- Expansion of our food cultivation
- Advocating for food and social justice
- Self-care and permaculture embodiment practices

We encourage anyone that is interested in taking this course to inquire with Stacey Doll about opportunities to ‘Pay it Forward’ in exchange for discounted fees for this course. Root to Rise supports the eight forms of capital and will creatively work with any persons who have interest in this course, while still meeting its obligations to offer this learning experience.
